Numerous Vehicle Entries Reported
Police are investigating after numerous vehicle entries were reported overnight Friday and Saturday. In some cases the vehicles were left unlocked and rummaged through. However, in one instance a victim’s wallet was stolen and credit cards were used at various retail stores in the city. The interactions were captured on the stores’ CCTV and are currently under investigation. Mischief/Theft – ST230110172
Two separate incidents of damage to Laundry Facilities were reported late Friday evening. Property management of 2 Avon Road and 4 Avon Road, reported incidents of damage to their laundry facilities sometime overnight Thursday and into Friday. In each instance, access doors to the units were pried open in attempts to steal coins. Unbeknownst to the culprits, the machines had been emptied of the coins and only damage was incurred. Residents of the area are asked to be on the look out for suspicious activity in and around these areas. The investigation is ongoing, the amount of damage to the units is undetermined at this time.
Fraud/Scam – ST23011097
A local women is out $400 after falling victim to a scam. The female reported being contacted, by who she thought to be her boss via email. She was requested to purchase gift cards for the employees and send the boss photos of the cards. Due to a fraud policy at a local retail store, the female was only able to purchase a minimum number. When the woman advised her employer that this behaviour seemed suspicious she was advised that this was indeed a scam.
Assault/Threats – ST23011108
A 22yr old St. Thomas man has been charged following an incident with his 18yr old partner. On Friday officers attended an address in the city after receiving a 911 distress call from the victim. The victim reported being assaulted and threatened by the man. As a result the 22yr old was arrested and charged with Assault and Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. The man was released from custody with a future court date.
Domestic Dispute Results in Charges – ST23011123
A 20yr old St. Thomas man has been charged following an assault investigation on Saturday morning. The 20yr old has been charged with 2 counts of Assault and one count of Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. The man was arrested, charged and later released on an Undertaking with Conditions. He will appear in court in July to answer to the charges.
Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release – ST23011133
A 26yr old Stratford man has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop on Saturday. Officers on patrol were alerted to the vehicle driving in an erratic manner shortly after 2 pm. As a result of a traffic stop in the city’s west end, the male driver was in the company of a female he was currently on conditions not to be with. The male was arrested and charged with one count of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. He would later be released from custody with a future court date and conditions to abide by.
Another Theft Charge – ST23011145
After being released by Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on Saturday, Kevin Ashford is wanted again. This time, it is alleged that a tablet was removed from a display by Ashford. Ashford was identified by police through the store’s CCTV. As a result Ashford is one wanted for one count of Theft Under $5000, and one count of Failing to Comply with a condition of Probation.
Mischief to Air Conditioners on Roof Tops – ST23011184
Police are investigating after receiving reports of damage to roof top air conditioner units early Sunday morning. Shortly after 6 am two parties were captured on CCTV damaging Air Conditioner units and removing some of it’s components. This matter is currently under investigation, and charges are pending. Suspects have been identified at this time, but will require further investigation before charges will be laid. If you are a business owner or building owner, please be diligent in checking such units, and report any suspicious behaviours therein.
Stolen Dodge Ram – ST23011188
Police are investigating after a Burrows Street resident reported his pickup truck stolen. Sometime shortly after 2 am, the 2020 Black Dodge Ram pickup was seen leaving the complainants driveway. One male suspect can be seen entering the driver’s side of the truck and fleeing. The truck contained several hand tools and has a ‘Darth Vader’ sticker in the Rear Window. The truck will be bearing Ontario License plate AF45205. If you see this truck do not approach it, but call 911 instead.
