Impaired by drug:

On Saturday morning Police were called to a local drive-thru for reports of a possible impaired driver in the lineup. The observant driver behind the accused reported honking several times at the vehicle ahead as it sat still in the drive-thru lane, where it then pulled into a parking spot where the caller observed the female driver to be “passed out” behind the wheel. We arrived and located a 41-year-old female in the driver’s seat that was showing clear signs of being impaired by a drug. The female was arrested and on her person was located prescription medication not in her name. The female later performed poorly on a Drug Recognition Evaluation conducted at the station. The vehicle was impounded and the female was released with a future court date, charged Impaired Operation, Possession of a controlled substance and fail to comply with probation. Intimate partner violence:

On Saturday we received a 911 call from a third party reporting a physical altercation between a husband and wife at their residence. Police attended and spoke with both involved parties, and through investigation determined that the male was the dominant aggressor, who was subsequently arrested for assault. The 41-year-old male was transported to the station and later released on an undertaking with conditions. Incident ST25007312.

Identity Theft:

On Saturday afternoon a local resident reported that an unknown person filed a false tax return in his name with the CRA . A notice of assessment sent to the victim by the CRA indicated a return in excess of $5000.00 was sent via direct deposit. The victim did not receive the funds and it’s believed that the banking information had been falsified as well. The matter is currently under investigation. Incident ST25007326.

Distraction theft:

On Saturday afternoon three males attended a downtown business together and conducted a theft of cash from the till. One of the males purchased an item and while waiting at the check out counter the two other males distracted the staff member – who later found that approximately $2200.00 had been taken by the first male from behind the counter while the employee had been distracted. The males left in a silver vehicle and the employee was able to obtain a licence plate.  Video of the suspects and the vehicle has been obtained and the matter is currently under investigation. The involved parties are believed to not reside in this area. Theft/Shoplift:

On Saturday afternoon Loss prevention at an east end business reported a male left the store without paying for items. The loss prevention officer was able to obtain a licence plate and will be sending video of the incident. The matter is currently under investigation. Incident ST25007336

Warrant Arrest:

On Saturday evening officers on general patrol recognized a male party that they were aware was wanted on several warrants held by our service related to shoplifting and breaching conditions of his release. The 40-year-old St Thomas resident was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held in cells for Weekend video court. Incident ST25007340

Theft/Shoplift:

On Saturday evening Loss prevention reported a female left the store without paying for items. Video was observed and the officer investigating the incident recognized the female suspect. A warrant is being sought for the arrest of the 33-year-old female for theft under $5000.00 Incident ST25007345.

Theft of Bicycle:

On Saturday evening a male resident reported leaving his bicycle locked to a bike rake outside of a south end business — and returning 15 minutes later to find it stolen. The bicycle is described as a “Kranked” mountain bike, grey with silver accents, and having a red and white seat.
