STPS Media Release – Saturday, July 29th, 2023.

A 44-year-old Strathroy resident attended the St. Thomas Police station and turned himself in on a St. Thomas Police arrest warrant. This person is charged with one count of cruelty to animals and was released by police with a future court date and conditions to abide by.

The Hamilton Police Service arrested a 40-year-old person of no fixed address on the strength of a St. Thomas Police arrest warrant. This person is charged with failing to report a lost firearm, was transported to the St. Thomas Police Service, held for a court appearance, and later remanded into custody.

A loss prevention officer from a business in the 1063 Talbot Street business park notified St. Thomas Police of two shoplifters. St. Thomas officers attended the business and with the assistance of surveillance video, a 45-year-old London resident is charged with one count of shoplifting. No arrests have been made at this point. Ref# ST23013389.

A 52-year-old St. Thomas resident attended the St. Thomas Police station and turned herself in on a St. Thomas Police arrest warrant. This person is charged with one count of arson and was released by police with a future court date.

A downtown St. Thomas business contacted the St. Thomas Police Service regarding two shoplifters. Suspects entered the establishment and stole $80 worth of meat and fled the store. Police are waiting on surveillance images to assist with identifying the two suspects. This remains under investigation. Ref# ST23013410.

A 33-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon after an altercation at a south end residence. The accused was held in custody for a court appearance and later released by the courts with a future court date and conditions to abide by. The weapon used was a pocket knife and the victim sustained only minor injuries. Ref# ST23013430.

St. Thomas Police officers responded to a family dispute on Maple Street where people were fighting on the roadway. Upon officers arrival, one person was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and held overnight until sober. No injuries were sustained nor were there any criminal charges laid as a result of the altercation.
