Assault investigation leads to arrest
A 43 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after an investigation that began earlier this week. At approximately 10 p.m. on April 15th 2024, police were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of Talbot Street. Upon arrival, officers located the two parties involved who were both suffering from injury as the result of a physical altercation. Both were treated on scene by EMS with one party, the victim in this matter, being transported to hospital for further treatment. As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 43 year old St. Thomas resident with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, Administer a Noxious Substance and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. Just before 9 p.m. last night, the individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24005995/6058
Warrant arrests
A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday April 16th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on outstanding warrant with our service for breach of probation. The 38 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24006020
A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday April 16th 2024, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for Impaired Operation and Possession of a Scheduled Substance dating back to April of 2023. Theft
St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday April 16th 2024, officers were called to the store to investigate the report of two unknown individuals attending the store, selecting a quantity of alcohol and leaving the store without paying. Police are reviewing video surveillance of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24006028
Vehicle entry
A wallet containing person identification and bank cards has been reported stolen from a vehicle. On Wednesday April 16th 2024, the vehicle owner contacted police to report their wallet had been stolen from their vehicle while it was parked at an address on Hiawatha Street. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST24006055
