Media Release Thursday May 25th 2023

Impaired

A 43 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with multiple offences after St. Thomas Police were called to investigate a collision just before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 24th, 2023. A concerned citizen contacted police after witnessing a vehicle strike a parked car on Princess Avenue. Police were able to located the vehicle and its driver. Through investigation and roadside screening, it was determined the 43 year old was impaired by drug. The resident was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for further testing. As a result, the individual has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug
  • G1 unaccompanied driver
  • Control of a vehicle with liquor available
  • Careless driving

The 43 year old was held for court and released. ST23008814

Impaired

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with one count Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug after police were called to investigate a collision outside of a residence on Avon Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday May 24th, 2023. Through investigation it was learned that a parked car had been hit by a vehicle that had left the area. The driver returned to notify the owner of the parked car when concerns of possible impairment were observed. As such, the 44 year old was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for further testing. The individual was processed and released with on an appearance notice. ST23008867

Arrested 

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service. The individual was wanted on a Mischief charge from an incident in 2022. The 32 year old was processed, held for court and released on an undertaking. ST23008841

A 37 year old Strathroy resident with several outstanding warrants with our service has been arrested. At 4:15p.m. on Wednesday May 24th, 2023 STPS were notified by Strathroy Police Service that they had the 37 year old in custody. As such, custody was turned over to the STPS and the individual was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed on 18 outstanding charges and held for court. ST23008852

A 32 year old Central Elgin resident has been arrested. On Wednesday May 24th 2023, Elgin OPP contacted St. Thomas police to advise they had the individual in their custody on the strength of our warrant from an incident in June of 2022. The individual was transferred to St. Thomas police headquarters, processed and released on an appearance notice. ST23008882

A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday May 25th 2023, St. Thomas police were contacted by Woodstock police to advise they had the individual in custody on the strength of our warrant from an incident in December of 2019. The individual was transferred to St. Thomas police custody, transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for court. ST23008890

Failure to Comply

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by our service for failing to comply with their conditions after St. Thomas police were called to a disturbance on Thursday May 25th, 2023. Through investigation, police formed grounds to charge the 37 year old with two counts of Failure to Comply with Undertaking. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST23008883

Theft

A 27 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count Theft under $5,000 after police were called to investigate a theft that had occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street. It was reported that an unknown person entered the location, took a 60 oz bottle of rum and left, making no attempt to pay. Through investigation, police were able to identify and locate the suspect a short distance away. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking. ST23008847

Stolen Motorcycle

A 2005 black and orange Buell 120 Motorcycle has been reported stolen. On Wednesday May 24th, 2023 St. Thomas police were called to investigate the theft after the owner of the bike attended the location where it was being stored and found it missing. The bike was last seen at an apartment building parking lot in the 300 block of Talbot Street in April of 2023. Police are continuing to investigate. ST23008838
