Police Respond to Person in Crisis

St. Thomas Police responded to a person in crisis Wednesday morning at an apartment building on Queen Street.

Just before 8 a.m. police were called to a unit in the 400-block of Queen Street after security reported a man was yelling and breaking items inside the apartment.

Officers attended and worked to communicate with the individual, who was in distress and initially refused to open the door. The situation was safely resolved and the individual was taken to hospital for assessment and connected with appropriate supports.

No injuries were reported and no charges have been laid.

Indecent Act 

A 41 year old Grey County man has been arrested after being identified as the person involved in an indecent act investigation. On Wednesday, the individual attended police headquarters to turn himself in. Once processed he was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26011745/11880

STPS are investigating several thefts that have occured over the last 24 hours

  • $130 of cosmetics have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street.
  • $30 of baking supplies have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street.
  • $500 of dairy products have been reported stolen from a grocery store on Wellington Street.
  • $700 of patio furniture has been reported stolen from an address on Alma Street.
  • A 38 year old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000 after stealing grocery items.
  • A 32 year old London woman was arrested last night after police were called to a shoplifting incident. It was reported the unknown individual had left the store after concealing items in her backpack. Upon arrival, officers located the 32 year old with the stolen items. She also had several items from a nearby retail store. Charged with Theft under $5,000 she was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. These incidents remain under investigation. Available video has been provided to police.

Counterfeit Money 

A $100 counterfeit bill has been turned over to police. On Wednesday, an employee at a local bank located the bill while completely their daily cash transaction. Officers attended to collect the bill that was confirmed to be counterfeit. ST26011859
