Theft

Sometime over the past week the tailgate and taillights to a pickup truck were removed and stolen by unknown suspects.  The vehicle had been parked in a public parking lot in the downtown core of the City.  Approximate value of the property stolen is $3000.  Anyone with information regarding the theft is encouraged to contact the St. Thomas Police Service at 519-631-1224 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. RIDE

The St. Thomas Police Service continues educating the public and checking for impaired driving during the holiday season.  Two RIDE programs were conducted on December 30, 2023 with over one hundred vehicles checked.  No infractions were noted and drivers were sober.  St. Thomas Police is reminding drivers to plan ahead and drive sober to ensure a safe holiday for those in our community.  ST23022682/ST23022708

Warrant arrest

A 45 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant by a neighboring jurisdiction.  The individual was subsequently released from custody on an appearance notice with a new court date. ST23022706

Theft and Assault

In the afternoon of December 30th, a young person was observed shoplifting merchandise from a Talbot Street business.  The young person had left the area prior to officers attending.  A short period of time later the same young person assaulted another youth at nearby restaurant.  The young person was subsequently arrested for the shoplifting incident and the incident involving the assault.  The victim sustained minor injuries and the young person accused was released from police custody on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date. ST23022727/ST23022729
