Late Night Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Seizure and $110K of Drugs seized

Shortly after 11pm on Friday November 17th 2023, an STPS Officer on general patrol in the area of Talbot Street and Sunset Drive conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Inside the vehicle were 3 occupants; the driver and 2 individuals in the back seat.  The driver was identified and it was determined that he was a suspended driver and also had an outstanding warrant from London Police Service.

As a result, the male was taken into custody.  Search incident to arrest, Officers located a small amount of suspected Crystal Meth as well as a spring loaded knife.

OPP officers in the area also assisted St. Thomas Police Officers who were on scene.  The female in the vehicle was identified and it was learned that she was also wanted on outstanding warrants. She was subsequently arrested.  A search of her and her property resulted in mores drugs being located as well as a 32 Calibre Semi Automatic handgun.

The third male in the vehicle was also arrested and he too had outstanding warrants from London Police Service.

The vehicle involved was towed to the St. Thomas Police Service for processing.  Further investigation and search resulted in a substantial seizure of illicit drugs leading to numerous charges being laid.  The following is the summary of the charges laid as a result of the investigation:

Male #1- 47 years old from London is charged with the following:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)

2) Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon CC 91(2)

3) Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order CC 117.01(1)

4) Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code CC 320.18(1)(a)

5) Careless Storage of a Firearm CC 86(1)

6) Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 92(1)

7) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon CC 94

8) 5(2) CDSA –Trafficking a controlled substance x6

9) HTA 53 (1) – Drive Under Suspension

10) HTA 153 – Drive Wrong Way – One way Traffic

11) HTA 7(5)(a) – Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

12) CAIA 3(1) – Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

 

Male #2- 32 years old from London is charged with the following:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)

2) Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon CC 91(2)

3) Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order CC 117.01(1) X 2

4) Careless Storage of a Firearm CC 86(1)

5) Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 92(1)

6) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon CC 94

7) 5(2) CDSA – Trafficking a controlled substance x5

 

Female- 28 years olds from London is charged with the following:

1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)

2) Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon CC 91(2)

3) Careless Storage of a Firearm CC 86(1)

4) Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 92(1)

5) Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon CC 94

6) 5(2) CDSA – Trafficking a controlled substance x 5

Along with the 32 caliber semi- automatic handgun located and seized was over $110, 000.00 worth of illicit drugs which included Crack Cocaine, Cocaine, Hydromorphone, Dilaudid and Fentanyl.

All three persons were held for court.
