St. Thomas Police Respond to Nearly 200 Calls for Service in 48 Hours

St. Thomas, ONFriday June 19th 2026 

Over the past 48 hours, members of the St. Thomas Police Service responded to nearly 200 calls for service throughout the city. The following incidents are among those investigated by officers during that time.

Intimate Partner Violence

A 25 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested following an incident at a Talbot Street address on Thursday morning. Officers were called to the address for the report of an argument in progress. Upon arrival, the parties involved were spoken to. Through investigation police learned the accused had physically assaulted his partner when a verbal argument had escalated. Charged with two counts of Assault and Failure to Comply with Probation the 25 year was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. A 33 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested following an investigation into the report of sexual assault. Charged with two counts Sexual Assault and one count of Assault, the accused attended police headquarters on Thursday to turn himself in. Once processed, he was released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26011408/11423

Disturbance Call Leads to Charges

A 36 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested after police were called to a disturbance on Elm Street, last night. Upon arrival, officers learned the accused had physically assault her partner. When attempting to arrest her for one count of Assault, she resisted officers by attempting to kick them. Additionally charged with Assault a Peace Office and Resist Arrest, she was transported to police headquarters, processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26011417

Threats – Youth Charge 

A 15 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after a video posted on TikTok alerted school staff to contact police. Officers were provided the video and confirmed the identity of the individual who posted it. Charged with one count of Uttering Threats, the individual was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26011396

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

A 2021 Kia Soul reported stolen from an address on Malakoff Street, has been recovered. On Thursday morning, the owner of the vehicle contacted police to report the vehicle had been stolen at some point overnight.  Just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, we were contacted by OPP who had located the vehicle with significant damage in the west region. This remains under investigation. ST26011364/11405

Animal Welfare Investigation 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the report on a dog being mistreated by its owner. On Wednesday, police were called to a Talbot Street restaurant after the incident was captured on the exterior cameras of the business. The video has been provided to police. This remains under investigation. ST26011391

Theft

$30 of cosmetics have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday, STPS received an online report of the theft that occurred the day previous. Available photos of the suspect have been provided to police. ST26011362

$300 of groceries have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Thursday night, officers were called to the store for the report of a theft that had just occurred. A description of the vehicle and licence plate was provided to police. Officers located the vehicle in question and a traffic stop was conducted. Through investigation, a 56 year old Richmond Hill man was arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000. Once processed, he was released on an appearance notice to attend court. ST26011429

Warrant Arrests

A 40 year old Woodstock man has been arrested. Early this morning, WPS notified STPS that they had the individual in custody on the strength of an outstanding warrant held by our service. Custody was exchanged and the 40 year old was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where he was processed and held to attend court. ST26011443

A 19 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested following an investigation into unwanted communication. Charged with one count of Criminal Harassment, the accused was processed and released on an appearance notice to attend court. ST26011422

A 44 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Thursday, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with her on an unrelated matter when they were made aware of an outstanding warrant. Charged with Criminal Harassment in January, the accused had failed to attend court to answer to the charge. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and held for a court appearance. A 54 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Thursday, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service. Charged with Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation stemming from an incident in March, he was transported to police headquarters and held to attend court. ST26011387/ST26005212

A 49 year old St.Thomas woman has been arrested after officers were called to investigation the report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and its driver who was known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with the OPP who were notified of the arrest and custody exchanged. No signs of impairment were observed. ST26011367
