Assault

A 34 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested following a call for service Wednesday evening. Just after 6 p.m. police were called by an employee of a local business who wish to report they had just been assaulted by a patron who had been asked to leave. Upon police arrival the accused was located outside. Through investigation, officers learned the 34 year old had punched the victim when asked to leave. He was arrested and charged with Assault. A search incident to arrest found the individual to be in possession of a knife. The accused is currently bound by a probation order to not possess weapons. Additionally charged with Failure to Comply with Probation Order, he was transported to police headquarters, processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26001959

Impaired Operation 

A 39 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested following the police response to a motor vehicle collision on Wednesday night. Just before 9:30 p.m. officers attended the intersection of Elm Street and Fairview Avenue for the report of a two-vehicle collision. No injuries were reported and both drivers had moved their vehicles to a safer location, away from traffic while waiting for police. While speaking with the drivers involved, officers were concerned the 39 year old was showing signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was administered resulting in a failed reading. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where additional breath samples read 170mg/100ml, more than twice the legal limit. The man was charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation plus 80 and Careless Driving. He was processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26001974

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 21 year old St. Thomas man has been charged with Uttering Threats after unwanted communication was reported to police. Through investigation officers learned the accused had sent several threatening messages to an individual they are currently on conditions to not communicate with. A warrant for his arrest has been requested. ST26001951

Warrant Arrest

A 37 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Wednesday, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter at police headquarters, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 stemming from an incident in August. He was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST26001947/25014057

Suspended Driver

A 41 year old St. Thomas man, currently prohibited from driving has been arrested. On Wednesday police were called to an address at the west end of Talbot Street to investigate the report of the individual driving himself to an appointment. Officers attended the address and located the individual who had driven his spouses car. Subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving while under Suspension and the vehicle was towed and impounded. ST26001916

Counterfeit Currency

STPS have received another bill, believed to be counterfeit. On Wednesday, the bill was turned over to police by an individual who suspected it was fake. If you believe you have received counterfeit currency, do not return it to circulation. Please contact the St. Thomas Police Service to report the incident so the bill can be examined and the circumstances documented.  ST26001961

Theft

A cell phone and two bus passes have been reported stolen. On Wednesday, police were called to investigate the report of the items being stolen while the victim was at downtown business. CCTV is being provided to police. ST26001917

Sunglasses and energy drinks have been reported stolen from a gas station on Talbot Street. On Wednesday afternoon, officers were called to the area for the report of an unknown male causing a disturbance in the retail store of the gas station and leaving with the items, failing to pay. CCTV of the incident was provided to police, who have identified the individual responsible. ST26001937
