Warrant arrests:
On Thursday morning an officer on general patrol observed a male known to him to be wanted on a current warrant held by our service related to breaching conditions of his probation. The 38-year-old male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and was later released with a future court date. Incident ST25006275.
On Thursday afternoon an officer on general patrol observed a 35-year-old male known to them to be wanted on a warrant held by the St Thomas Police Service for several shoplifting incidents. The male was also on a release order from previous charges that included 24-hour house arrest. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with fail to comply with release order. The male was held for video court on the holiday Friday. Incident ST25006279.
Bail Violations:
On Thursday afternoon an officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a highway traffic act violation. Once stopped the officer recognized that the female passenger was on conditions to not associate or communicate with the male driver. During the arrest the female passenger refused to comply with demands to exit the vehicle and resisted arrest by pulling away from the officers and bracing her feet on the door pillar to prevent police from removing her. The 47-year-old female was charged with fail to comply with release order x2, fail to comply with probation order x3, and resist arrest. The female was held overnight for holiday video court. The male driver was charged with fail to comply with release order – party to the offence, and released with a future court date and conditions. Incident ST25006280.
Theft/Shoplifting:
On Thursday afternoon Police were called to an east end business for reports of a male shoplifter who had left the store prior to the call for Police. Video was obtained and the suspect identified by officers. In the early morning hours of Friday, the 18th the male was observed by the investigating officers while out on general patrol. The 52-year-old St Thomas resident was arrested, charged with theft under, and released on conditions with a future court date. Incident ST25006283/ST25006310.
While Police were on scene for the previous incident store staff reported a second incident of theft that occurred on the same date. Staff reported a female entered the store and left without paying for merchandise. Video has been provided and a still image of the suspect is attached.
