UPDATE: Two Arrested and Charged Following Woodworth Avenue Arson

St. Thomas, ON – April 17th, 2025

The St. Thomas Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch has laid charges against two individuals in connection with the arson that occurred at 100 Woodworth Avenue on Monday April 14th, 2025.

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged 40-year-old Daniel Armstrong of St. Thomas with one count of Arson and one count of Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. The accused was arrested this morning  just 48 hours after the arson investigation began. Armstrong appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.

A 16-year-old youth has also been arrested and charged with Arson. The youth was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.

This incident was initially reported as suspicious and was deemed an act of arson. The swift identification and arrest of the accused parties was made possible thanks to the efforts of Investigators and the support of our community.

The St. Thomas Police Service would like to express sincere gratitude to the public for their cooperation and assistance in this investigation.

The St. Thomas Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch is actively investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at 100 Woodworth Avenue on Monday April 14th, 2025.

The incident has now been deemed an arson, and investigators are seeking assistance from the public as part of this ongoing investigation.

We are specifically appealing to anyone who was walking along the train tracks between Woodworth Avenue and Balaclava Street between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Monday. If you were in the area during this time and may have witnessed anything suspicious or have video footage or photos from area, please use the QR code provided to allow for the secure upload of photos or videos directly related to this investigation.

This incident remains under investigation. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
