Assault with a Weapon
A 72 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after a disturbance at a convenience store on Monday morning. Just after 7:30 a.m. police were called to a Talbot Street address for the report of an assault that had occurred. Upon arrival, police learned the 72 year old had assaulted an employee, when they tried to stop from the leaving the store without paying for their items. The individual left the area for a brief time but returned with a large wooden stake and approach the victim in an attempt to further assault them. As a result, the 72 year old has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25003011
Warrant Arrests
A 42 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday February 24th 2025, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding committal warrant. The individual was processed and released on the conditions assigned by the court. ST25003012
A 47 year old London resident has been arrested. On Monday February 24th 2025, officers at the Elgin County Court House were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they were made aware of an outstanding warrant for Obstruct Peace Officer and Failure to Comply with Release Order in relation to an incident in January. The 47 year old was processed and released with a future court date. ST25003022
Theft
A 42 year old St. Thomas resident has been identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident, reported to police on Monday. Police attended a downtown grocery store to review CCTV of the incident and through investigation have charge the 42 year old with Theft under $5,000. A warrant for arrest has been requested. RIDE
St. Thomas police are pleased to share that of the vehicles stopped and their drivers spoken to during a RIDE program in the city on Monday evening, no infractions were found. STPS wishes to thank the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST25003067
