Media Release Monday February 3rd 2025

Break and Enter 

Two St. Thomas residents have been arrested after an alert citizen contacted police. Just before 5 am this morning, police were called to an area off of Manor Road in a new construction subdivision, for the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who had gained access to the garage of a home. In their possession, officers located several stolen items from other residential sites in the area.

As a result, two 49 year old St. Thomas residents have been charged with:

  • Break and Enter

Through further investigation, officers learned one of the individuals had provided a false name. Police were able to positively identified the individual who was subsequently charged with Obstruct Peace Officer.

Both parties were transported to police headquarters to be processed and held for a court appearance. ST25001930

Theft

Approximately $80 of merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Sunday February 2nd 2025, officers were called to investigate the report of an unknown individual failing to pay for their items. CCTV is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST25001893

Fraud 

A local resident is out approximately $4,000 after falling victim to a text scam. On Sunday February 2nd 2025, the victim contacted police after learning the text they received from someone posing as their relative with a new phone number, was a scam. It was reported that the victim received a message from a trusted contact in their phone who stated their phone had been broken and they required money to replace it. While speaking with the actual individual, it was learned the text was fraudulent and they had been scammed. This remains under investigation. ST25001915

Failure to Comply

A 25 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order after police were made aware of them being at an address they are on conditions to not attended. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25001922
