Impaired Operation
As the result of a 911 call from a concerned citizen, a 35 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charge with Impaired Operation. At approximately 7:30 p.m. police were advised of vehicle entering the north end of the city that observed swerving and unable to maintain the lane of traffic. A description of the vehicle was provided to police. The vehicle was quickly located and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver was informed of the traffic complaint and a roadside screening test was administered, resulting in a fail. The 35 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters were further testing confirmed the individual was nearly two times over the legal limit. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24018814
Warrant Arrests
A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday October 18th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order. The 45 year old was processed, attended court and was released by the courts. ST24018768
A 15 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Thursday October 18th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Assault, Utter Threats and Mischief stemming from an incident in August. The 15 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24018809
Sexual Assault
A 67 year old St. Thomas resident that had been charged with Sexual Assault has been arrested. On Thursday October 18th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in. The 67 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24018771
Fail to Stop
A black BMW has been recovered by police. On Thursday October 18th 2024, officers on general patrol were attempting a traffic stop when the driver of the vehicle accelerated away from police, reaching speeds of 120 km/h. Police continued their attempt until it was no longer safe. The vehicle was located abandoned in a west end parking lot and was recovered by police. This remains under investigation. ST24018803
RIDE
St. Thomas police are pleased to announce that 190 vehicles were stopped and their drivers spoken to during a RIDE program in the city last night, with no infractions or concerns to report. STPS wished to thank the community for continuing to drive safe and sober. ST24018811
