Media Release Thursday August 8th 2024

Impaired Operation

A 21 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Mischief after an incident on the north side of the city, early this morning. Just before 2 a.m. police were called to investigate the report of disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were made aware that a window of a house had been broken after an argument between a couple had escalated. The person responsible had left the area in their vehicle, prior to police arrival. The individual was located driving their vehicle a short distance away and traffic stop was conducted. While speaking with the driver, officers believed them to be impaired by alcohol and a roadside screening demanded was administered resulting in a fail. The 21 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where further testing concluded the individual to be over the legal limit. They were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24013819

Utter Threats 

A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to an address in the city to investigate the report of unwanted communication. Through investigation, officers learned the individual had attended a residence they are on release conditions to not attend and made threats to cause harm. As a result, the 33 year old has been charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order and one count of Uttering Threats. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24013797

Warrant Arrest

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday August 8th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for Theft under $5,000 stemming from an incident in May. The 37 year old was processed, attended court and was released with a future court date. ST24013754

Failure to Comply 

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police for failing to comply with their current release conditions. On Wednesday August 7th, STPS were notified that the individual had attended a location in city they are currently on conditions to not attend. As a result, the 32 year old has been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order and two count of Failure to Comply with Probation. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24013790

A 31 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday August 7th 2024, police were called to a retail store on Talbot Street for the report of an unwanted person. Officers located the individual, known to them to be on conditions to not attend the area. As a result, the individual was charged with Failure to Comply with Undertaking and two counts Failure to Comply with Probation. The individual was released with a future court date. ST24013806

Theft

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday August 7th 2024, officers were called to the store for the report of an unknown person failing to pay for approximately $50.00 of merchandise. The individual was seen leaving the area on a bike prior to police arrival. This remains under investigation. ST24013771
