Theft
A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after being identified as the person responsible for stealing approximately $650 from a retail store on Talbot Street. St. Thomas police were contacted in regards to the theft that occurred on March 5th 2024. Through investigation and review of the available video surveillance, the 30 year old was identified and subsequently charged with Theft under $5,000. A warrant for arrest has been requested. Approximately $550 of merchandise has been reported stolen. On Sunday March 17th 2024, St. Thomas police were called investigate the theft that occurred from a retail store on Talbot Street. It was reported that an unknown individual had enter the store and shopped for various items before leaving the store without paying. Police are currently reviewing available video surveillance of the incident to identify the individual. This remains under investigation. ST24004263
Warrant Arrest
A 48 year old Southwold resident has been arrested. On Friday March 15th 2024, officers were dealing with the individual during an unrelated traffic stop when they became aware of an outstanding warrant with our service for one count Theft under $5,000 stemming from an incident in June of 2023. The 48 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an under taking with a future court date. ST24004140
3 day suspension
A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been issued a 3 day driving suspension after police were called to a single vehicle collision in the area of Sunset Drive and Talbot Street. On Saturday March 16th 2024, officers located the driver and lone occupant on the vehicle who had sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. Attending officers formed grounds to believe that the driver was impaired. Breath samples provided concluded the driver to be within the warning range of impairment. The 36 year old was issued a 3 day driving suspension and charged with Careless Driving. ST24004178
Failure to comply
A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Saturday March 16th 2024, officers on community patrol observed the individual known to them to be on release conditions that include a curfew. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were charged with one count Failure to Comply with Release Order. The 29 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24004181
Assault with a weapon
A 54 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday March 17th 2024, St. Thomas police were called to the area of Ross Street and Talbot Street to investigate the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, police located an individual who reported being approached and threatened by an acquaintance. Officers located the individual responsible nearby and took them into custody. The 54 year old St. Thomas resident was transported to police headquarters where they were charged with one count Uttering Threats and one count Assault with a Weapon. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24004248
Possession of Stolen Property
A 17 year old St. Thomas resident and 14 year old Kingston resident have been arrested. On Monday March 18th 2024, officers were notified by Wellington OPP that the two youth had left their current residence, breaching their release conditions and their curfews. The individuals were located in St. Thomas a short time later after police were called to investigate the report of an unwanted person. Once located, police learned the youth were in possession of a stolen vehicle. As a result, the 17 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Release Order. The 14 year old Kingston resident has been charged with three counts of Failure to Comply with Probation, one count Failure to Comply with Release Order and one count Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000. Both were processed on the charges and held for a court appearance. ST24004280

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself.
