VEHICLE ENTRY
Officers on Community Patrol attended a south side address on September 20th in regards to a vehicle entry that occurred overnight of September 19th. A vehicle on the roadway was left unlocked and was entered. Stolen was $200 cash, ID and gift cards. ST23016749
INJURY TO OFFICER
On September 20th Officers on Community Patrol were called to an address in the city to assist family with a 15 year old youth who was out of control in the home. The youth was violent with family and was restrained by family members when Police arrived. The youth was violent and tried to kick and bite officers as they apprehended the youth under the Mental Health Act. During the struggle an officer sustained injuries. The youth was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
WARRANT
A 35 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested on September 20th after they turned themselves into the Police Station. The 35 year old had a warrant out for their arrest for failing to report to submit a court ordered DNA sample. They were arrested without incident, a DNA sample was taken and they were released.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE
A St. Thomas resident had reported to Police on September 18th that their Dodge Caliber had been stolen overnight from their downtown residence. Yesterday morning Waterloo Regional Police located the vehicle abandoned in their region. The owner was advised of the recovery. ST23016605
THEFT
Officers on Community Patrol attended a Talbot Street business yesterday after an incident of shoplifting had occurred. A male with long hair, wearing a black t-shirt, grey track pants, running shoes and had a black sweatshirt tied around their waist left the store at 1:00 pm yesterday and failed to pay for alcohol he had concealed on him. On September 21st Officers on Community Patrol were called by a Loss Prevention Officer from a store on Talbot Street who reported an incident of shoplifting. A female had entered the store and filled reusable shopping bags with items, paid for a couple items at self check out and left with unpaid merchandise. Loss Prevention approached the suspect and the suspect failed to stop and left in a vehicle. Pictures of the suspect are below. ST23016856
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
A 36 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested on Talbot Street yesterday when they were found to be in possession of numerous IDs that did not belong to them. They were arrested without incident and charged with Breaching their Release Order and Possession of Stolen Property. They were released with a future court date. ST23016826
A St. Thomas resident who lives in the cities south end reported to Police on September 19th that his vehicle had been entered overnight and a wallet with ID and credit cards was stolen. One credit card had been used at 2:45 am at a local variety store where two purchases were made totaling approximately $140 in product. Store video was reviewed and a 33 year old male was identified by Police. On September 21st this suspect was located on St. Catherine St and he was arrested without incident. He was transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing. He was charged with two counts of Use of credit card, one count of Possession of property obtained by crime and Fail to Comply with his Probation Order. CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
Yesterday, members of the St. Thomas Police Criminal Investigations Unit attended an address just outside of town to arrest a 34 year old. The 34 year old was arrested without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for processing. They were charged with Criminal Harassment in relation to harassment of a former partner. They were later released with a future court date. ST23005425
IMPAIRED DRIVING
A concerned citizen called Police last night as they thought someone was driving impaired, a vehicle description was given and also stated that the driver was driving without the headlights on. Officers on Community Patrol located a vehicle on Ross Street that was operating at night without it’s lights on. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was found to have consumed alcohol and a roadside test was conducted. The 27 year old registered a fail and was arrested without incident and transported to the Colin McGregor Building for further testing. The 27 year old failed the Intoxilyzer test and was charged with Operation while Impaired. They were later released with a future court date. ST23016852
