St. Thomas, ON – Saturday June 22nd, 2024
A 39 year old Oakville resident has been arrested.
On June 21st, 2024 members of the St. Thomas Police Service were called to assist the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit (ROPE) with an arrest in the City of St. Thomas.
The 39 year was located and was searched incident to arrest by ROPE officers. During the search officers observed what they believed to be a firearm under the rear passenger seat.
STPS Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant of the accused vehicle where following items were located and seized from underneath the rear passenger seat:
- A loaded Sig 9mm hand gun with 1 9mm round of ammunition in the chamber
- A magazine containing 16 Luger 9mm rounds of ammunition
As a result, the 39 year old has been charged with:
- Three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
The individual was processed on the charges and held for a morning court appearance. ST24010507
