St. Thomas, ON – Monday November 10th, 2025
On Sunday November 9th, just after 1:00 a.m. officers were called to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for the report of an assaultive patient refusing to leave the emergency department after being discharged.
Prior to police arrival, hospital staff reported that the individual had brandished a knife and was threatening staff members.
Officers arrived and located the male, who was identified as 29 year old St. Thomas resident. The male surrendered the knife and was taken in to custody.
Further investigation revealed that the accused was bound by a release order stemming from a previous incident, which included conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
As a result, he was arrested and charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was processed for a court appearance and ultimately remanded into custody. ST25020589
