St. Thomas Police Service
Update on Death Investigation – Elm Street and Centennial Avenue, St. Thomas Ontario.
The St. Thomas Police Service is now in a position to provide an update to the community regarding a death investigation commenced earlier today.
On the 16th of November, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) notified the St. Thomas Police Service that they had initiated a missing person investigation in the area of Centennial Avenue which is in the Municipality of Central Elgin. The missing person, a 58-year old man was located deceased within the City limits a short time later and only a short distance away from his residence.
As the deceased was located within the jurisdiction of St. Thomas, a death investigation was commenced and investigated by the St. Thomas Police Service with assistance of the Regional Coroners Office.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. There is no threat to public safety.
Out of respect for the family, no further details regarding the identity of the deceased will be released.
The St. Thomas Police Service extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We wish to thank the public for their cooperation during the investigation.
