Arson Investigation – Update #1:
Charges laid in ongoing arson investigation.
Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Branch conducted an investigation into an arson to a residential building on St Catharine Street on the 1st of March 2025. Through witness interviews, video canvasses, and traditional police investigative techniques officers were able to identify a male suspect and laid charges of Arson endangering life and a warrant was being sought for the arrest of the 35-year-old St Thomas resident. On the 19th of April 2025 members on general patrol observed the male in the downtown core. The male was arrested, transported to the station, interviewed by members of Criminal investigations and released on conditions with a future court date.

Arson Investigation
St. Thomas police are looking to identify the individual in the photos below in relation to an ongoing arson investigation. On Saturday March 1st 2025, police were called to an address on St. Catharine Street for an active fire. Upon arrival, St. Thomas Fire were working to extinguish the fire and assist the occupants to safety. Through investigation STPS and STFD deemed the fire to be suspicious and it is being investigated as arson.
