St. Thomas, ON – Friday February 20, 2026
A 30-year-old St. Thomas man is facing a dozen charges after St. Thomas Police responded to 21 incidents involving the accused since he was released by the courts on February 10, 2026.
On that date, the individual appeared before the court and entered guilty pleas to theft and mischief-related offences stemming from incidents in December 2025. The individual received a suspended sentence with time served and was placed on probation for a period of two years under court-imposed conditions.
Since his release, the STPS has responded to 21 incidents involving the accused. These incidents have resulted in a total of 12 new criminal charges, including assaulting police officers, uttering threats, fraud, and theft.
These incidents required repeated officer deployments and investigative follow-up, placing a significant demand on frontline resources. STPS responses during this period included breaches of court-imposed conditions, property-related offences, disturbances, and incidents involving community safety concerns.
During the most recent incident, officers responded to an unwanted person call at a downtown address. Upon arrival, officers were assaulted by the accused, who actively resisted arrest. While in custody, the accused also damaged police property within the holding cell area.
The accused was transported to court and, following processing, was released by the courts on an undertaking with a future court date.
The St. Thomas Police Service recognizes that repeat interactions with police often involve complex social and health-related factors and will continue working closely with community and mental health partners to support appropriate interventions alongside enforcement.
