We arrested a 33-year-old St. Thomas resident on the strength of an outstanding 1st instance warrant (theft under, FTC undertaking x2). This person was later released by police with conditions and a future court date. This individual was also wanted by the London Police Service therefore they attended the St. Thomas Police station and transported the individual back to London for processing. Ref# ST25008513
Sometime overnight, an unknown person entered an unlocked vehicle near the downtown area and stole a wallet containing ID and other cards. Under investigation. Ref# ST25008521
Warrant arrest – the London Police Service arrested a 34-year-old London resident on an outstanding St. Thomas Police bench warrant. This person was later released by police with a future court date. Ref# ST25008524
Warrant arrest- we arrested a 43-year-old St. Thomas resident on outstanding grounds for assault. This individual was later released by police on conditions and a court date. Ref# ST25008537
We arrested and charged a 41-year-old St. Thomas resident with theft of motor vehicle, driving while prohibited, failing to comply with a probation order, and driving while suspended. This person had crashed the stolen vehicle on Clinton Line and was taken into custody by the Ontario Provincial Police. St. Thomas took over the investigation and held this individual for a morning court appearance. Ref# ST25008551
Warrant Arrest – Elgin OPP arrested a 49-year-old St. Thomas resident on the strength of a St. Thomas Police bench warrant for Theft Under $5000. OPP transported this person to STPS cells where we released the individual with a future court. Ref# ST25008554
We responded to an address in the north end of the city regarding a neighbor dispute. As a result of the investigation, we arrested and charged a 31-year-old St. Thomas resident with assault with a weapon. This individual was later released by police with conditions and a future court date. No injuries were sustained as a result of the assault. Ref# ST25008559
Protecting yourself from fraud
In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
