STPS Media Release – Sunday, September 28th

We are investigating the theft of a bicycle from a shed at a residence near the core of the city. The bicycle is described as a pink Supercycle “Camellia” with white tires. Please see image below. Ref# ST25017647

We are investigating a shoplift which occurred at a retail store located at the 1063 Talbot Street business park. Two individuals were observed by a loss prevention officer leave the store without paying for $100 worth of items. We are waiting on video surveillance to further our investigation. Ref# ST25017676

A lawn care company was providing a service to a south end residence when individuals stole numerous tools from the work site. Approximately $500 worth of gardening and lawn maintenance tools were taken and remain outstanding. This remains under investigation. Ref# ST25017685

A 36-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing charges of shoplifting after being captured on store surveillance cameras. The suspect was observed taking a quantity of meat products and leaving the store without paying. A warrant is being sought for this individual. Ref# ST25017692

While on general patrol, our officers located a 36-year-old St. Thomas resident who was wanted on a St. Thomas Police bench warrant for failing to attend court. The suspect was arrested and brought to the police station and held in custody for a court appearance in the morning. Ref# ST25017704

We are investigating a theft from a vehicle on Wellington Street. Sometime overnight suspects entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway and stole $2000 worth of Dewalt power tools. Ref#ST25017706

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
