A 31-year-old Southwold Township resident wanted on an outstanding bench warrant by our service has been arrested. On Saturday afternoon, the individual was arrested by OPP and later released with a future court date. ST25005822
A 47-year-old St. Thomas resident wanted by our service for failure to comply with a probation order as well as failing to comply with a court release order has been arrested. Our officers on community patrol located the individual early Saturday evening and made the arrest. They were transported to the police station for processing and held for a morning court appearance. On Saturday afternoon police were called to a south end store regarding a shoplifting incident. Staff reported that an individual had just attended the store and left without paying for items. The matter is still under investigation. ST25010193
Staff of a south end business called to report an individual had just left their store without paying for items. We were able to identify the suspect through the store video surveillance. Later that evening we were called to a north end residence after the homeowner located the same individual inside their vehicle potentially stealing items. We located and arrested the individual for theft not exceeding $5000 and trespass by night. We are investigating an assault which occurred during the early morning hours at a south end establishment. There were no injuries as a result of the assault. We are obtaining video to further our investigation. ST25010222

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
