STPS Media Release – Sunday, December 3rd.

A 39-year-old Aylmer resident was arrested by St. Thomas Police officers on the strength of an Oxford OPP arrest warrant. This individual was turned over to Oxford OPP for further processing. Ref# ST23021236

St. Thomas Police officers are investigating a break and enter on Queen Street. Suspects entered an apartment and while inside, damaged some items and stole dinnerware. Ref# ST23021239

St. Thomas Police officers attended a downtown business regarding a possible impaired driver parked at the rear of the business. Upon arrival, officers found a 58-year-old Fergus On. resident slumped over the steering wheel and drug paraphernalia in plain sight to the officers. This individual was arrested and charged after performing poorly on a drug recognition officers investigation. This individual is now charged with impaired driving by drugs, possession of a controlled substance x2, and having care and control of a conveyance with cannabis readily available to the driver. The driver was released by police with conditions, an automatic drivers license suspension, and a future court date. Ref# ST23021276

A 16-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested by St. Thomas Police on the strength of a London Police Service arrest warrant. This resident was later released with conditions and a future court date. Ref# ST23021232

A 42-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested and charged with assault x3, uttering death threats x2 and public mischief after St. Thomas Police officers responded to a disturbance in the south end of the city. No injuries were sustained as a result of the assaults and the accused person was later released with conditions and a future court date. Ref# ST23021280

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps such as Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself.
