RIDE 

Approximately 35 drivers were spoken to during a RIDE check on Saturday December 2nd, 2023. STPS is happy to share no infractions were found. ST23021224

Theft

A 38 year old St. Thomas resident is wanted by police after being identified as the person responsible for a theft that occurred at a downtown retail store on Friday December 1st, 2023. STPS were called to the store to investigate the theft and review video surveillance. The individual was identified and has been charged with one count of Theft under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with Probation Order. A warrant has been issued for their arrest. ST21021215

Break and enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter that occurred to a building under construction at a southside address. On Sunday December 3rd 2023, police were called to the address by a security company who were notified of an alarm at the location. Upon arrival, police determined entry had been made to the building and a window covering had been damage and removed. STPS are currently reviewing available video surveillance. This remains under investigation. ST21021292

Mischief

St. Thomas Police are currently investigating an incident of mischief. On Sunday December 3rd 2023, officers were called by a home owner on the northside of the city who wished to report that at approximately 4 a.m. that morning, their home surveillance captured four individuals remove their laneway markers and smashed them on the ground, shattering the reflective glass onto the road. This remains under investigation. ST23021306

Failure to comply

A 27 year old St. Thomas is resident is wanted by police. On Sunday December 3rd 2023, officers were called to an address on the southside of the city for an unwanted person. Through investigation, officers learned the unwanted individual is bound by conditions to not attend the address of complaint. As a result of this incident the accused is charged with one count Failure to Comply with Undertaking. A warrant has been requested. ST23021312

Warrant arrest 

A 21 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Sunday December 3rd 2023, officers were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding probation warrant. The 21 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23021338

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
