A female with long blonde hair, thin build, wearing a white t-shirt and a large black bag attended a retail store on Edward Street and stole two sets of headphone valued at $110. Staff at the store spoke with the individual who fled prior to our arrival. This remains under investigation. Ref# ST25009589
Two individuals attended a retail store located in the 1063 Talbot Street business park and stole two cartons of milk valued at $22.90. This remains under investigation. Ref# ST25009603
We received a call for service from staff at a retail store located on Talbot Street. The individual stole a case of Twisted Tea alcoholic beverages. The suspect was later located by police near by, resisted arrest and attempted to remove a police officers firearm from their holster. The 34-year-old St. Thomas resident was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest as well as disarming a police officer. The suspect was later released by police with a future court date and conditions. Ref# ST25009604
A concerned citizen called police to report that sometime over the last two days, an unknown person cut the fence on the southeast side of the Moore Street Community Garden compound and stole four raised red cedar planter beds, each worth $275. The raised beds are 2ft x 3ft. We are waiting on video to further the investigation. Ref# ST25009607
A resident from an apartment complex on Talbot Street called police to report an unknown person attempted to break into their unit. The resident left their apartment and returned home t0 observe splintered wood on the floor outside of the apartment and damage consistent with someone attempting to pry open the door. Protecting yourself from fraud
In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:
- Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
- No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
- No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
- No employer will ask you to invest your own money
- Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
