Sexual Assault/ Sexual Interference
On December 30th, officers from the Criminal Investigations Branch with assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team as well as Uniform Patrol attended an address on the north side of the city to execute a search and arrest warrant for a 33 yr old St. Thomas resident. Following the investigation, the individual was wanted on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference. The individual arrested without incident and transported to the Police station where they were held for a morning court appearance. ST25023363
Fraud
We are investigating after a St. Thomas resident called Police to report they had fallen victim to an online Bitcoin scam. The victim believed they were out approximately $20 000. The investigation has been taken over by our Criminal Investigations Branch. ST25023370
Later in the day, a local business owner contacted us to report that some unknown person(s) had fraudulently deposited business cheques in an amount totaling over $4000. We continue to investigate the matter. ST25023375
RIDE
Members assigned to Project HomeSafe were out and about yesterday, setting up a number of spot RIDE points in the city checking for driver sobriety. We are pleased to say that no infractions or impaired drivers were located. We thank the community for choosing to drive sober this holiday season, ensuring everyone gets to where they are going safely. ST25023364
Break & Enter
In the early morning hours of December 31st, we received a call to a downtown business from their alarm company regarding a motion camera hit that they had received. Following our quick arrival, we located the business insecure and determined that an individual had broken in by smashing a glass window. The 56 yr old Aylmer resident was arrested without incident and charged with Break & Enter. They were transported back to the police station where they were processed and later released on conditions with a future court date. ST25023397
