Further to our media release issued on November 27, 2025, the Ontario Court of Justice has issued a publication ban under section 486.4(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The order prohibits the publication, broadcast, or transmission of any information that could identify the victim or a witness in this matter. As a result, and in compliance with the order, no additional identifying details shall be released that could identify the victim or a witness in this matter.
This matter remains before the courts. No further comment will be provided.

On September 26th 2025, the St. Thomas Police Service commenced a criminal investigation at the request of the London Police Service.
Due to the involvement of individuals that potentially presented an institutional conflict of interest, the Community Safety and Policing Act requires such matters to be investigated by an external police service to ensure transparency and impartiality.
As a result of the investigation, 50 year-old Mariam Hamou of London has been charged with the following offences:
- Extortion, S 346(1.1(b), CC
- Harassing Communications, S 372(3), CC
Hamou was taken into custody late this afternoon at St. Thomas Police Service headquarters and has been released with a future court date in London. This matter remains before the courts.
