A St. Thomas police officer has been charged with an Impaired Driving offence
In the early morning hours of October 13, 2024 the OPP were notified of a potential impaired driver travelling in Elgin County. As result the OPP were able to conduct a traffic stop. A roadside screening test was administered and the vehicle operator failed the test. The operator of the motor vehicle was arrested and taken to the Elgin OPP detachment where a breath test was conducted.
As a result Constable Sarah Mooney, a probationary Constable with the St. Thomas Police Service is charged with:
Impaired Operation – Excess Blood Alcohol
Constable Sarah Mooney has been suspended from duty as per the provisions of the Community Safety and Policing Act and scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in St. Thomas on Tuesday November 26, 2024.
Once the criminal proceedings have been completed a Community Safety and Policing Act investigation will follow.
