St. Thomas Police Join National Operation Impact Campaign This Thanksgiving Weekend

St. Thomas, ONThursday October 9th 2025

The St. Thomas Police Service will be participating in Operation Impact 2025, a national public awareness campaign running from October 10th to 13th, 2025. This annual initiative aims to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world by promoting responsible driving behaviours.

Throughout the Thanksgiving long weekend, officers will be increasing enforcement and education efforts, focusing on the driving behaviours most commonly linked to serious collisions:

  • Impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs, or fatigue

  • Aggressive driving

  • Distracted driving

  • Seat belt and child car seat compliance

Most collisions are not accidents, they’re the direct result of choices made behind the wheel. This year’s theme, ‘Safety is in MY hands’ reminds all drivers that the decisions they make have real consequences for themselves, their passengers, and everyone else on the road.

The St. Thomas Police Service will continue to have a visible presence on city streets and roadways throughout the long weekend to encourage safe driving habits and to hold those who put others at risk accountable.

We all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. By staying sober, slowing down, staying focused, and buckling up we can prevent collisions, save lives, and reduce injuries.

Operation Impact is led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, in partnership with police services nationwide.
