Robbery investigation 

The St. Thomas Police Service is investigating a robbery that took place in the overnight hours of Monday July 15th, 2024.

Just before midnight, police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a robbery that had occurred in the 300 block of Talbot Street.

It was reported that unknown suspects used force to enter a business in the area, armed with weapons in an attempt steal an e-bike.

Several officers attended the area and quickly located two suspects pushing the e-bike away from the area.

21 year old, Nicholas Derbowka was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence
  • Break, Enter a place – commit an indictable offence
  • Two Counts Failure to Comply with Probation

31 year old, Shaylee Murphy was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence
  • Break, Enter a place – commit an indictable offence
  • Failure to Comply with Probation

Both individuals were transported to police headquarters where they were held in custody pending a court appearnce.

As a result, both Derbowka and Murphy were remanded into custody.

Through further investigation, STPS identified a third suspect.

On Wednesday July 17th 2024, 37 year Jonathan Cedar was arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts Robbery with Violence
  • Two counts Break, Enter a place – commit an indictable offence

Cedar was transported to police headquarters where a search incident to arrest located:

27.1 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine ($2710.00)

34.7 grams of Crack Cocaine ($3470.00)

1.4 grams of Cocaine ($140.00)

Totaling: $6320.00

As a result, Cedar has been additionally charged with two counts of Possession of a Scheduled 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Cedar was processed and held for a morning court appearance.
