Project Home Safe: Continued Focus on Impaired Driving Enforcement

St. Thomas, ONFriday December 12th 2025

As we approach the halfway point of December, the St. Thomas Police Service is providing an update on Project Home Safe, the dedicated impaired driving enforcement initiative operating throughout the holiday season.

Since the launch of the project on December 1st, officers have maintained a consistent and visible presence across the city through static and mobile RIDE spot checks.

To date, officers have:

  • Checked 1,087 vehicles during combined static and mobile RIDE operations.

  • Administered 26 Approved Screening Device (ASD) tests and 4 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), resulting in 4 three-day suspensions and several additional charges and warnings.

  • Completed targeted operations have resulted in 2 Impaired by Drug and 1 Impaired Operation plus 80.

Also issued were:

  • 4 Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges

  •  1 Liquor License Control Act charge

  • 1 Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charge

The St. Thomas Police Service reminds all drivers that impaired driving is entirely preventable. Officers will continue RIDE operations and targeted patrols throughout December to ensure safe roads for all residents.

Every Driver. Every Ride. Home Safe.
