Media Release Wednesday November 15th 2023

Failure to comply 

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, STPS were called to a disturbance at an address on the north side of the city. Upon arrival, an individual was found to be violating a recent condition of their bail release. The 30 year old was arrested and charged with one count failure to comply with release order and transported to police headquarters where they were held for court. The St. Thomas resident was released on an appearance notice. ST23020065

Warrant Arrest

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday November 15th 2023, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant. The 29 year old was arrested, processed and released with a future court date. ST23020123

Theft

A red and white Schwinn bicycle, with a black pouch has been reported stolen. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, St. Thomas police were called to investigate the theft that occurred at a high school in the city. The theft occurred sometime between the hours of 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. ST23020077

A t-shirt and hoodie have been reported stolen. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, STPS we called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the theft. Upon arrival, it was learned an unknown person entered the retail store, selected the items and then left, making no attempt to pay. CCTV is being reviewed to identify the suspect. ST23020094

A dremel tool accessory kit has been reported stolen. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, officers were called to a retail store on Edward Street to investigate the theft. Store staff reported an unknown person entered the store, selected the tool kit and concealed it in their jacket before leaving the store without paying for the item. Video is available and is being reviewed. ST23020099

Approximately $325 of merchandise has been reported stolen. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, STPS were called to a retail store on Edward Street to investigate the theft. Through investigation, officers learned an unknown person scanned the items at the self check out but failed to process payment. STPS have obtained video of the incident. This remains under investigation. ST23020107

Recovered Bike 

A bike that was reported stolen from a Talbot Street business on Monday November 13th 2023, has been recovered. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, while on an unrelated call for service, officers located the stolen bike and were able to return it to its rightful owner. ST23020078

Mischief

A 19 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday November 14th 2023, officers were called to an address on Wellington Street to investigate the report of damage to a building. Upon arrival, police located the 19 year old who had spray painted the building. The St. Thomas resident was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief. The individual was processed on the charge and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23020090

While on a call for service at a Wellington Street address, staff reported that in addition to the spray paint, a window on the first floor of the building had been broken with what appeared to be a heavier piece of broken cement. On site staff report that damage occurred sometime over the last two days. This remains under investigation. ST23020096
