Media Release Wednesday March 19th 2025

Sexual Assault 

A 73 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after an incident at the Elgin Centre, on Tuesday. Just after 2:30 p.m. officers were called to the mall to investigate an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers spoke with staff who provided a description of the individual who had been in the mall causing a disturbance and bothering employees. Through investigation, officers learned the individual had made advances towards employees of the mall and wouldn’t not leave when asked to do so. Officers located the individual who was charged with three counts of Sexual Assault and transported to police headquarters. The 73 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date. ST25004443

Breach of Probation

A 20 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to investigate an unwanted person. On Tuesday March 18th 2025, officers attended a southside address and located the individual in question. The 20 year old, known to police to be in violation of their current probation order was arrested and charged with three count of Failure to Comply with Probation Order, Enter Premises where Prohibited and Engage in Prohibited Activity. The 20 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed, attended court and were released by the courts. ST25004411

Break and Enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a commercial break and enter at an address on Woodworth Avenue. On Tuesday March 18th 2025, an alert employee called police after finding a broken window upon arriving to work. No other damage was reported. This remains under investigation. ST25004419

Theft

Approximately $30 of groceries have been reported stolen from a grocery store on Talbot Street. On Tuesday March 18th 2025, officers were  called to the store to investigate the incident that occurred the previous day. CCTV is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST25004409

Warrant Arrests 

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. While on an unrelated call for service, officers were made aware the individual was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Fraud over $5,000, Identity Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime dating back to an investigation from January 2024. The 37 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed to attend court and remanded into custody. ST25004406

A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. While on an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service for Failure to Comply with Release Order. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST25004407

A 72 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by police for Transportation Fraud and Failure to Comply with Probation has been arrested. The individual was located by police at an address on Talbot Street, processed and released with a future court date. ST25004421/4402

A 48 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by police for Assault has been arrested. The individual had been charged after an incident between them and their partner. The 48 year old turned themselves in to police, was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25004438

A 36 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday March 18th 2025, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they were notified of an outstanding probation warrant. The warrant was processed and the individual was released with a future court date. ST25004439
