Failure to Comply
A 47 year old Central Elgin man has been charged with two additional counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order after police learned the he was continuing to communicate with an individual they are conditions to not communicate with. This morning, with the assistance of the Elgin OPP, the accused was located and arrested. Charged with a combined three counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order stemming from incidents this week, he was transported to STPS HQ where he was processed and held to attend court. A 54 year old St. Thomas man has been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order after police were made aware the accused had failed to attend a court ordered program. A warrant for his arrest has been requested. ST26004100
An 81 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested after he was located outside of an address he is conditions to not attend. On Tuesday afternoon, officers attended an address downtown to investigate the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, occupied by the accused. Charged with one count of Failure to Comply with Probation he was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26004120
Fraud
A local resident is out $3,000 after falling victim to a phone scam. On Tuesday, the victim contacted police after receiving a phone call from someone posing as the RCMP. It was reported that the victim was told they were currently being investigated by the RCMP for scamming others and was instructed to deposit $3,000 at an bitcoin machine to avoid having their accounts frozen. Theft
A 35 year old St. Thomas woman has been charged with Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident at a grocery store on Talbot Street, Tuesday evening. A warrant for her arrest has been requested. ST26004161
Counterfeit Money
While on an unrelated call for service at a downtown business, a $100 counterfeit bill was turned over to officers. Store staff are unsure of when the bill was received. CCTV is available and being reviewed. ST26004162
