Mischief

St. Thomas police are investigating the report of a construction dumpster, located in an residential area of the city that is currently under construction being set on fire. On Tuesday, we were contacted by an employee of a local builder who reported that sometime in the overnight hours the dumpster had been damaged with visible signs of a fire occurring. The fire was out when the employee contacted police. No other damage in the area was reported. This remains under investigation. ST25009835

Investigation leads to arrest 

An investigation into the report of intimate images being shared has concluded with the arrest of a 28 year old St. Thomas resident. On June 9th, the victim contacted police to report finding several images of themselves on various social media platforms. The victim was unware the photos had been taken or shared. Through investigation, STPS charged a 28 year old St. Thomas resident with Distribute Intimate Image without Consent. On Tuesday, the accused attended police headquarters to turn themselves in. They were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25009777

Warrant Arrest 

A 26 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by our service after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident on May 11th, has been arrested. At that time, we were called to an east end business for reports of two shoplifters that had left the store without paying for merchandise. Video was provided that showed the individual had loaded several usable shopping bags with merchandise before they left the store. Their vehicle was also captured on exterior cameras. Police identified the individual as the 26 year old St. Thomas and a warrant for arrest was requested. On June 10th, the individual attended the Elgin County Courthouse where they were processed, attended court and were released by the courts. ST25007884/9864

Break and Enter Investigations 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a pair of break and enter incidents.

The first incident reported to police on Tuesday, involved a secured shed located on Park Avenue being entered with several garden supplies and fishing equipment reported stolen. ST25009867

The second incident occurring at commercial address on Burwell Road, reports several power tools stolen from a locked trailer in a fenced area. The fence surrounding the property had been cut to gain access. ST25009873

Both incidents remain under investigation.

Theft

A grey, DCO bike described has having orange details and saddle bags valued at $1,000, has been reported stolen. On Tuesday, the owner contacted police to report that they had secured their bike to a rack at an address on Wellington Street before attending an appointment and returned to find the bike had been stolen. Police are waiting to receive video surveillance of the area as they continue to investigate. ST25009881
