Impaired Operation
A 35 year old Southwold resident has been arrested after we received a call from a concerned citizen, Tuesday afternoon. At 3:15 p.m. we received a call in regards to a possible impaired driving entering the city at a high rate of speed and unable to maintain their lane. A description of the vehicle was provided to police who located the driver, returning to their vehicle at an address off of Balaclava Street. While speaking with the driver to inform them of the complaint, officers observed signs of impairment and a roadside screening device was administered, resulting in a fail. The 35 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where subsequent breath tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 146mg/100ml and 140mg/100ml. The 35 year old was charged with Operation while Impaired Plus 80, their license suspended and their vehicle towed. ST25013432
Stolen Vehicle Investigation – Forest Avenue
The St. Thomas Police Service is investigating the theft of a vehicle reported stolen from the driveway of a residence on Forest Avenue. The vehicle, a white 2025 Buick SUV bearing Ontario license plate ACXZ 643, was last seen parked and secured at approximately 8:00 p.m. on July 28th. Officers have canvassed the area for CCTV. Warrant Arrests
A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated call for service, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 stemming from a shoplifting incident earlier this month. The 29 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and later released on an appearance notice. ST25013412
A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. Last night, we were contacted by the London Police Service who had the individual in their custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant stemming from an incident in 2021. The 44 year old had been charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Theft under $5,000, Failure to Comply with Probation Order and Drive while under Suspension. The individual was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25013463/ST21021068
Theft
$300 of grocery items have been reported stolen from a downtown grocery store. On Tuesday, officers were called to the store to review video of the incident that occurred the night before. The video captured two unknown individuals shopping throughout the store and then leaving with a cart full of items, failing to pay. This remains under investigation. ST25013397
$200 of alcohol has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Tuesday, we were called to the store after an unknown person attended the store and failed to pay for their items. CCTV of the incident is being reviewed as police work to identify the person responsible. ST25013410
Mischief
A City of St. Thomas pick up truck has been reported damaged. On Tuesday evening, police received a call in regards to a group of youth throwing rocks at the truck, causing the window to break. Police attended a parking lot on Wellington Street and observed the damaged. No one was found in the area at the time of police arrival. This remains under investigation. ST25013452
