Media Release Wednesday January 29th 2025

Impaired Operation 

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called in regards to a suspicious male in the area of Elm Street and Manor Road, who had attempted to enter the backseat of a vehicle that wasn’t theirs. Officers were provided a description of the individual who was located a short distance away, in their own vehicle in the middle of roadway. While speaking with the driver, officers had concerns that they were impaired. The 52 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluator confirmed the individual was impaired by drug. As a result, the 52 year old was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Have care control of vehicle with cannabis readily available

The 52 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25001591

Warrant Arrests 

A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 28th 2025, while on an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding DNA warrant and for Breach of Probation. The 34 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST25001610

A 49 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 28th 2025, police were called to a Talbot Street address for an unwanted person. Upon arrival, officers located the 49 year old who was known to them to be wanted on several outstanding warrants, dating back to 2023. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST25001612

A 37 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 28th 2025, officers were called to a retail store on Talbot Street after employees contacted police in regards to a possible theft. Upon arrival, officers located the 37 year old who was known to them to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001620

Theft

Approximately $70 of groceries have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Tuesday January 28th 2025, officers attended the store to investigate the report on an unknown individual attending the store and concealing several items in a grocery bag before leaving the store without paying. Officers are reviewing video surveillance of the incident in an effort to identify the individual. ST25001597

A 35 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible for stealing a phone. Last night, police attended an address on Queen Street to investigate the report of the individual attending the address and stealing the phone after a verbal altercation.
