Impaired Operation
A 49 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were alerted to a possible impaired driver. Just before 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday December 17th 2024, officers were provided a description of the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the south east side of the city. Through investigation, police determined the driver to be impaired by alcohol and a roadside screening device was administered, registering a fail. The 49 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where testing confirmed the individual to be impaired at nearly twice the legal limit. The St. Thomas resident was charged with Operation while Impaired – Plus 80, their vehicle impounded and their license suspend. They were later released on an undertaking with a future court date. Robbery
A 28 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after police were called to a retail store on Wellington Street, Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 1:30 p.m. officers responded to the area for the report of an unknown person that had threatened an employee with a knife while they attempted to stop the individual from shoplifting and leaving the store with unpaid merchandise. A description of the suspect and the vehicle they left in was provided to police. The vehicle was located a short distance away on Third Avenue and a traffic stop was conducted. An individual matching the description provided to officers was located in the back seat of the vehicle. When asked by police to identify themselves, the individual provided a false name. Officers were able to confirm the suspects actual identity and as a result, the 28 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with Robbery with Violence, Obstruct Police and Failure to Comply with Probation. Warrant Arrest
The 43 year old St. Thomas resident responsible for the theft of two televisions from retail store on Talbot Street, has been arrested. On Tuesday December 17th 2024, the individual attended the Elgin County Courthouse to turn themselves in on the outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000. They individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24022710
