Break and Enter

A 45 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested after police responded to an alarm at a business, early Tuesday morning. Police were notified that an individual was currently onsite after live CCTV sent an alert to staff. Officers attended and located an individual inside the dumpster.  The individual, who was known to police was arrested. Charged with one count of Break and Enter, he was transported to police headquarters and processed to attend court. ST26005420

Impaired Driving

A 44 year old St. Thomas man is facing multiple charges after police responded to the report of a possible impaired driver Tuesday morning. The vehicle was located a short time later and a traffic stop was conducted. Through the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver was impaired by drug. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further testing, where he refused to provide the required sample. He was subsequently charged with Impaired Operation, Failure to Comply with a Demand, and Fail to Surrender Licence. His licence was suspended, his vehicle impounded, and he was later released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST26005423

Intimate Partner Violence

A 33 year old St. Thomas man has been charged following an intimate partner violence investigation. On Tuesday, police received the report of an incident that occurred on March 29th. Through the investigation, officers determined that an assault had taken place involving threats and a weapon. The individual was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters. Charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. He was later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26005443/5469

Utter Threats, Harassment

A 39 year old St. Thomas woman has been arrested. On Tuesday, police were called to investigate the report of an individual making threats towards another person. Through the investigation, officers determined that the accused had also engaged in repeated unwanted communication. Charged with one count of Uttering Threats and one count of Criminal Harassment, The 39 year old attended police headquarters to turn herself in. She was later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26005473

Assault

A 38 year old St. Thomas woman is facing charges following an assault investigation. On Tuesday evening, police were called to a disturbance downtown. Through the investigation, officers determined that an assault had taken place. The accused was charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and Fail to Comply with Probation. A warrant for her arrest has been requested. ST26005484

Fraud 

Police are investigating a report of a romance scam. On Tuesday, an individual reported being defrauded after sending money to someone they believed to be in a relationship with online. The victim had been communicating with the individual for several months and was asked to send funds in the form of gift cards. The total loss is approximately $2,000. ST26005439

Warrant Arrests

Three individuals have been arrested on outstanding warrants.

On Tuesday, A 39 year old St. Thomas woman was arrested on the strength of a warrant stemming from an investigation involving threats, harassment, and failing to comply with court ordered conditions. She was processed at the Elgin County Courthouse and appeared before the court. ST26005433

A 40 year old St. Thomas woman was located by police and arrested on an outstanding warrant for multiple counts of Theft Under $5,000. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and transported to court. ST26005436

A 34 year old St. Thomas woman attended police headquarters to turn herself in on 13 outstanding charges of Theft under $5,000 stemming from a series of theft incidents. She was arrested without incident and held for court. ST26005467/3721

Mischief

Police are investigating a report of damage to a vehicle at a residence on the north side of the city. Late last night, officers were called after tires were slashed and additional damage was caused to the vehicle over two consecutive days. Suspects were observed fleeing the area in a vehicle. Theft

STPS are investigating a report of a stolen Samsung phone. On Tuesday evening, officers were called after a phone was taken while the owner was downtown earlier in the day. This remains under investigation. ST26005460
