Second Arrest Made in Stabbing Investigation

A second individual has now been arrested in connection with the stabbing incident that occurred in the downtown core on May 11th, 2025.

Just after 2 p.m. officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the downtown area involving individuals known to each other. The incident involved a female victim who sustained a non-life-threatening injury after being assaulted and struck with a thrown knife. One suspect was arrested a short time later with a second suspect having left the area before police arrival.

Through further investigation, that second suspect was identified and charged with Assault and Failure to Comply with Probation.

On Tuesday June 10th, a 28 year old St. Thomas resident was arrested. The individual was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Police Respond to Stabbing Incident

On the 11th of May 2025, at approximately 2:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the downtown involving individuals known to each other.

A female victim was approached by two other females with whom she was familiar. The altercation began when one of the suspects assaulted the victim without provocation. Although the victim initially left the area, she was confronted again approximately one block away. At that point, one of the suspects produced a knife and threw it at the victim from close range, causing a non-life-threatening injury.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes of the 911 call, provided immediate first aid, and the victim was transported to hospital. She has since been treated and released.

Police launched an immediate search of the area using both the Canine Unit and Uniformed Patrol officers. Their efforts led to the successful arrest of the primary suspect involved in the incident.  She has been taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow morning.

The accused is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Two counts of failing to comply with probation
