Prohibited Driver
A 60 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after we responded to a single vehicle collision on Monday morning. Just before 6 a.m. we attended an area off of Wellington Street and located the individual who had crashed their e-bike. Through investigation, officers learned the 60 year old is a prohibited driver stemming from a previous impaired operation conviction. The individual was processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25016231
Intimate Partner Violence
A 35 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday September 8th, we were called to an address south of Elm Street to investigate the report of an assault that had occurred and an individual in need of medical assistance. Upon arrival, officers learned an argument between spouses had turned physical, resulting in injury. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS. Responding officers located the 35 year old accused leaving the area on foot. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters, charged with one count of Assault and one count of Failure to Comply with Probation Order. As a result of a court appearance, the 35 year old was remanded into custody. ST25016234
Failure to Comply
A 42 year old Aylmer resident has been arrested. At 2:15 this morning, we were called to investigate the report of suspicious individual rummaging through a vehicle in an area south of Talbot Street. Upon arrival, officers located the accused who is known to police to currently have a curfew and a condition to remain in their residence in Aylmer between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The 42 year old was charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order and held for court. Fraud
St. Thomas police are currently investigating a cell phone fraud. On Monday, a local resident contacted police to report the suspicious incident. Officers learned the resident was contacted by someone posing as an employee of Rogers, offering a promotion. The individual purchased and received a new phone but was then given instruction to ship it to an out of area address due to an issue with the serial number. The St. Thomas resident became increasingly suspicious and contacted police. This remains under investigation. ST25016241
A local business is out $1,300 after learning an individual posing as the owner, contacted an employee with new instructions for their retail deposit. The incident occurred on September 7th and remains under investigation. ST25016246
Mischief / Theft
A 56 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after several copper thefts in a new build – residential neighbourhood were reported to police. On Monday, we were called to the area to investigate the report of several sites being entered, damaged and the copper wiring on site removed. Police have identified a 56 year old St. Thomas resident as the person responsible. Charged with two counts of Break and Enter, two counts of Mischief, two counts of Theft under $5,000 and two counts of Failure to Comply with Probation, a warrant for arrest has been requested. Mischief
A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Mischief after being identified as the person responsible for causing damage to business in the 500 block of Talbot Street. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25016287
Theft
$1,400 in scratch off lottery tickets have been reported stolen. On Monday, police were called to investigate the incident that occurred on September 7th. STPS were made aware of a similar theft in Aylmer on the same date. CCTV is being reviewed as we continue to investigate. ST25016256
$1,300 in various merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday, we were contacted in regards to the theft that occurred on July 27th. On September 4th, staff called to report the same individuals had reattended the store but had left when approached by staff. Photos of the individuals responsible are being provided to police in attempt identify them. This remains under investigation. ST25016279/6284
Warrant Arrest
A 34 year old Elgin County resident has been arrested. On Monday afternoon, we were contacted by the London Police Service who had the individual in their custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with Release Order issued in July. We attended London and took custody of the individual who was transported to STPS Headquarters, processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25016270
