Warrant arrest

A 59 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday March 11th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for indecent acts. The 59 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24003900

Theft 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a theft that occurred on March 9th 2024. On Monday, officers were called to a retail store on First Avenue to investigate the report on an unknown person attended the store and filling a shopping basket with miscellaneous items including food and beauty products before leaving the store, making no to attempt to pay. Police are reviewing available CCTV footage in an effort to identify the individual. ST24003925

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect themselves and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • Always verify the person you are corresponding with is legitimate
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App
  • If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a family member or relative, hang up and call the number you have for them.
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money or purchase gift cards.
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself

And remember if it seems suspicious, it likely is.
