Impaired Operation

A 38 year old London resident has been arrested after police were called to attend the north side of the city for vehicle idling in the middle of an intersection, with the driver asleep at the wheel. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Through investigation, police formed grounds that the driver was impaired and the individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where testing by a drug recognition expert confirmed the driver to be impaired by drug. As a result, the 38 year old London resident has been charged with one count of Operation while Impaired and one count of Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24011672

Break and Enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter incident that occurred at a construction site on the west side of the city. On Sunday July 7th 2024, police were called by concerned neighbours who reported the residential construction site had been accessed and an unknown individuals were on the property. This remains under investigation. ST24011594

Approximately $1,700 in electrical cable and cords have been reported stolen. On Monday July 8th 2024, the owner of a sea can shipping container located on a construction site on the north end of the city, reported that the items had been stolen at some point over the weekend. Through investigation officers learned an attempt to access the container was unsuccessful however the cables and cords had been stolen. Police are reviewing available video surveillance in the area as the continue to investigate. ST24011670

RIDE

Approximately 100 vehicles were stopped and their drivers spoken to during a RIDE program in the city last night.  STPS are pleased to report no infractions were found. ST24011668

Warrant Arrests

A 71 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday July 8th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant with our service for failing to comply with their release conditions, stemming from an incident in May. The individual was processed, attended court and was released by the courts with a future court date. ST24011605

A 38 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday July 8th 2024, officers on community located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding probation warrant. The 38 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24011648

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday July 8th 2024, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the individual responsible in a shoplifting incident from a retail store on Talbot Street in June. The 39 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. ST24011654

Theft

A BMX bike valued at approximately $300 has been reported stolen from a driveway on Kains Street. On Tuesday July 9th 2024, a St. Thomas resident attended police headquarters to report their bike had been stolen.
