Intimate Partner Violence
A 41 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. On Monday evening, police were contacted after a woman reported being threatened by a former partner during an interaction at a city park. Through further investigation, police learned of additional incidents involving sexual assault and repeated threats. The individual was located and arrested. Charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and two counts of Uttering Threats, he was transported to police headquarters for processing and was later released on an undertaking with a future court date. Break and Enter Investigation
Police are investigating a break and enter reported at a business on Andersen Avenue. On Monday, officers were called after the business owner discovered an RV charging cable had been stolen from a motorhome parked on the property. A shed at the rear of the business had also been entered. Officers are reviewing available video. ST26013846
Bail Violations
A 31 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested after police responded to a report of a suspicious person at a construction site on West Pearl Street. Officers located the individual on the property and learned he was bound by conditions prohibiting him from attending that location. Charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, he transported to police headquarters, processed and held to attend court. ST26013850
Theft Investigations
$100 of merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. Just before 1:00 p.m. on Monday we were called to attend the store after an unknown individual had failed to pay for their items. The suspect is described as a white woman, approximately 36 to 50 years old, with blonde hair. She was wearing a black tank top, floral pants and a grey backpack. Video has been provided to police. Lottery tickets have been reported stolen from a retail store on Edward Street. On Monday, police were called to investigate the theft that occurred on Sunday afternoon. Video of the incident has been provided to police. ST26013838
A 32 year old woman has been arrested following a reported theft from a retail store on Talbot Street on Monday. Officers were called to attend the area after an individual concealed clothing and left without making any attempt to pay. Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested her without incident. Through further investigation, officers learned the individual was wanted by our service in connection with a theft investigation from June. In that incident, approximately $760 worth of clothing, footwear and other merchandise had been stolen from several Talbot Street businesses. Charged with two counts of Theft under $5,000, she was transported to police headquarters, processed and later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST26013839/3840/11957
Warrant Arrests
A 44 year old St. Thomas man has been arrested. While dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were made aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The individual had been charged with several offences following a theft investigating in March. Once processed, he was remanded into custody. ST26013801/05112
A 37 year old St. Thomas man has arrested after police were notified that his court-ordered ankle monitor was no longer charged. Officers located the individual on Talbot Street. Charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, he was transported to police headquarters, processed and held to attend court. ST26013858
Stolen Bicycle Recovered
A bicycle reported stolen on Saturday has been recovered and returned to its owner. Early Tuesday morning, police were contacted after the owner received information that the bicycle had been seen in the area of Elm Street and Fairview Avenue. Officers attended and located the bicycle at a nearby residence. The owner confirmed the bicycle was his and it was returned without incident. ST26013872
