Porch pirate arrested

A 28 year old London resident has been arrested. On December 18th, 2023 St. Thomas police received multiple reports of an unknown person attending several addresses throughout the city, stealing packages that had been delivered. Through investigation and with the assistance of door bell cameras and residential surveillance, officers were able to identify the individual responsible. Information was shared with neighbouring police services and on December 21st 2023, St. Thomas police were notified by London police that they had the 28 year old in custody. STPS attended LPS to take custody of the individual. The London resident was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters, where they were processed for Theft under $5,000 and released on an undertaking with a future court date. Assault and Robbery

St .Thomas police are currently investigating a robbery. On December 30th 2023, police were made aware of a disturbance that occurred on a public trail in the city. Through investigation it was learned an altercation had occurred between a group of youths, known to each other. Personal property was reported stolen and minor injuries were reported as a result of the incident. This remains under investigation by the St. Thomas Police Service, Criminal Investigation Branch. Assault

An 18 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On December 31st 2023, officers were called to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital to investigate the report of an assault. Through investigation it was learned the 18 year old had assaulted a nurse while the nurse was attempting to provide care. The 18 year old was transported to police headquarters where they were processed for one count Assault, later released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST23022768

Vehicle Entry 

A gift card, a quantity of loose change and some charging cords have been reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Hincks Street. On December 31st 2023, St. Thomas police were contacted by the vehicle owner who reports that sometime in the overnight hours an unknown person entered their vehicle and stole the items noted. No damage to the vehicle was reported. ST23022770

Fraud

A local resident is out approximately $500 after losing their debit card. On December 31st 2023, the victim contacted police to report that after losing their debit card in a retail parking lot several transactions had been made at various locations throughout the city. This remains under investigation. ST23022778

Public intoxication 

A 48 year old St. Thomas resident has been issued a Provincial Offense Notice after being located intoxicated in a northside neighbourhood on December 31st 2023.  The individual was issued the notice and transported to police headquarters until sober. ST23022796

A 21 year old St. Thomas resident has been issued a Provincial Offense Notice after being located intoxicated in southside parking lot just before 5 a.m. on January 1st 2024. ST24000009

Additional charges in fraud investigation 

A 50 year old Cambridge resident is wanted by police as the result of a continued investigation that began in June of 2023. In June, the 50 year old had been charged with 2 counts of Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Documents after police were contacted by the Ministry of Transportation who reported suspicious vehicle identification numbers being used to register vehicles. Further investigation led STPS to additionally charge the Cambridge resident with 3 counts of Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Documents after identifying additional, fraudulent VINs in October of 2023. On January 1st 2024, officers formed grounds to additionally charge the individual with 4 counts of Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Documents. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24000017

Warrant arrest 

A 41 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 2nd 2024, while attending an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with our service for Possession of Property under $5,000, 3 counts of Use of Credit Card and 2 counts Fraud under $5,000 stemming from an investigation from September 2023. The 41 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST24000043
