Theft of Motor Vehicle

St. Thomas police are currently investigating the theft of a transport truck. On Monday December 9th 2024, officers were called to a business on Highbury Avenue for the report of a loaded transport truck that had been stolen. Through investigation, police learned that on December 8th at approximately 5:00 a.m. three unknown individuals entered a gated compound of the business and gained access to the truck. The truck was then connected to a trailer with approximately $30,000 of material before it left the compound. Police are continuing to review video surveillance of the incident. This remains under investigation. ST24022266

Failure to Comply

A 72 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged. On Monday December 9th 2024, police were made aware that the 72 year old was attending an address they are on conditions to not attend and attempting to contact an individual they are on conditions to not speak with. As a result the 72 year old has been charged with Failure to Comply with Probation Order. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST24022273

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday December 10th 2024, police were called to a disturbance in a parking lot on the northside of the city. Upon arrival, police learned an argument between individuals known to each other had escalated. Through investigation, officers were made aware of the 32 year old being on conditions to not communicate with the involved party. As a result, the 32 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with Failure to Comply with Undertaking and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. Warrant Arrests 

A 17 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday December 9th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Assault, stemming from an incident in November. The 17 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST24022286

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday December 9th 2024, the individual attended police headquarters to retrieve property of theirs that had been turned over to police. While dealing with the individual, officers were made aware that the 29 year old had an outstanding warrant for Uttering Threats, dating back to August. The 29 year old was processed and released with a future court date. ST24022292

Theft

Approximately $900 of clothing and footwear has been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Monday December 9th 2024, officers were called to the store to investigate the report of two unknown individuals failing to pay for several items including work boots, backpacks and a jacket. Police are reviewing available CCTV of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST24022307

Break and Enter 

St. Thomas police are currently investigating a break and enter incident. On Monday December 9th 2024, officers were called to a business in the 1200 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of several recreational trailers being damaged, entered and having items stolen from inside. Damage is estimated at approximately $20,000. Police are reviewing available CCTV as they continue to investigate. ST24022281

Assault with a Weapon

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after police were called to a neighbour dispute on Monday afternoon. At 2:45 p.m. police attended an address on the northside of the city to investigate the report of an argument between neighbours escalating, resulting in the victim being hit with a crutch. The accused, a 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Assault with a Weapon. The individual had left the area prior to police arrival. A warrant for arrest has been requested. In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself
